QA Test Engineer (Remote, UK or Dorset, Hybrid)

QA / Test Engineer (Web Applications) – Full-time, Permanent

Location: Remote (UK-based with 1 day per month in their Dorset office) OR hybrid working

Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 DOE + Bonus + Benefits

The Opportunity:

If you’re a hands-on QA / Test Engineer who likes improving quality rather than just running through test scripts, this role offers autonomy, influence and responsibility.

You’ll be working closely with the development team, testing a suite of web-based applications and making sure issues are picked up early and handled properly. It’s a role that suits someone who’s comfortable working independently, using their own judgement, and taking ownership rather than needing constant direction.

The role is with an established tech business that’s still growing and investing in its products and people. They design and deliver voice and data solutions over their own network. Their customers include healthcare organisations and government agencies, so reliability and quality are critical to what they do.

Why This Role Stands Out:

  • Basic annual salary £35,000 – £40,000 p.a. (possibly negotiable depending on experience)
  • 10% company bonus to celebrate your hard work
  • Remote working (1 day per month in the office) or based in Dorset (hybrid)
  • Career progression opportunities
  • 21 days holiday plus bank holidays, plus 3-4 extra days off at Xmas (discretionary), plus birthday off
  • Generous pension scheme
  • Retail discount scheme
  • Free parking and a cycle-to-work scheme
  • Subsidised gym membership to support your wellbeing
  • Smart-casual dress code for a relaxed work environment
  • Structured training and development opportunities to help you grow
  • Supportive, team-focused culture that values your ideas and achievements

  • Owning functional, integration and regression testing
  • Planning and carrying out system and UAT testing
  • Logging and triaging issues, and seeing them through to resolution
  • Working with the support team to investigate and reproduce issues
  • Reporting on test outcomes and any risks
  • Helping improve and shape testing processes
  • Contributing to automated testing using Cypress
  • Providing post-implementation support
  • Occasionally dealing with third parties when needed

What You Need:

They’re looking for a QA Test Engineer who:

  • Has experience testing web-based applications
  • Is methodical and pays close attention to detail
  • Can explain technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical people
  • Has worked in collaborative, team-based environments
  • Is comfortable prioritising their own workload
  • Understands Agile ways of working

Nice to have but not essential:

  • Experience with VoIP, ISP or telecoms environments
  • Experience with Cypress or other automated testing tools
  • Some knowledge of relational databases / MySQL
  • Experience using Jira

Why You Should Apply:

This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of quality where reliability matters. Your work will directly impact how web applications perform for customers in a live VoIP environment.

If you’re a QA / Test Engineer who enjoys taking responsibility and improving how testing is done, this is well worth a conversation.
