The Role: 2nd Line Support Engineer

As their Second Line Support Engineer based in Scotland, you will be an escalation point for resolving technical support enquiries for customers remotely and onsite. You will be responsible for:

  • Spearheading the resolution of IT support queries, ensuring swift and efficient ticket resolution.
  • Embarking on on-site customer visits, utilising your problem-solving skills, and resolving break-fix issues.
  • Workstation, server, and network issue resolutions, using advanced tools for seamless remote assistance.
  • Continuously refining and expanding your skills through professional training and development plans.

To Be Successful:

  • You will need to have strong hands-on technical experience in a 2nd Line Support role (minimum).
  • You’ll need to have a background in working on a service desk within an MSP (preferable) or customer-focused IT support environment.
  • You’ll need to demonstrate deep expertise in supporting Windows Operating Systems, Active Directory, Networking, and Virtualisation technologies.
  • You should be proficient in Microsoft 365 (with some knowledge of Azure), encompassing both on-premise and cloud-based solutions.
  • Ideally, you will have a valid driving license or easy access to trains/transport routes for travel.
  • Additional knowledge of technologies such as POS, Firewalls, Routers, Switches, VLAN’s, and remote access tools (e.g. N-Central/TeamViewer/MSP Connect) would be highly advantageous.

Location: This role can be based remotely from home in Scotland. However, as you will be required to travel to customer sites, you will need to live within easy commutable access to Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with some flexibility available. Please note that there is an on-call rota, which is currently 1 day/night in 8. (There is an on-call retainer paying between £30-120 per shift depending on when the shift falls. Typical earnings for on-call are £100-200 per month on top of basic salary.)
